Reasons why ya gotta love college football ( 55 words Flash Friday)
Football fans frantically cheering,
pre-game bon-fire, tail gating frenzy, fannies freezing,
loud alumnae, snuggling, friends, rivals, stadium, history
scoreboard, jerseys, helmets, pads,
quarterbacks, full-backs, receivers,
coaches, referees,
hotdogs, spilled coffee, Gatorade, beer’s overflowing
half-time show, telecast, cheerleaders, short skirts,
touchdown, field goal, interception,
defence, offense,
50 yard line,
15 glorious weeks,
next weeks game,
Bowl dreams

Especially with the realignment of the Big Ten. Go Michigan State!
Great piece, and whets my appetite for the season to start.

M, your words make me wish I did indeed love college football. Alas, it’s a world the merits of which continue to elude me. :p
September 2, 2010 at 4:54 pm
You can’t enjoy every sport – for some football is an acquired taste. I grew up on football
September 2, 2010 at 5:23 pm
I absolutely hate football. But in spite of myself, I genuinely enjoyed your 55!
September 2, 2010 at 4:56 pm

September 2, 2010 at 8:40 pm
You captured the feel of a fall game perfectly. But, yeah, I’m not wild about football myself. Tailgate parties sound like fun. Can I go home after that? (Sorry, G-man).
September 2, 2010 at 9:06 pm
clever way to do this I like it. I’m posted and ready to be read just follow the link below.

You and every one of my fellow college mates all getting ready to head out for some tailgating tomorrow. Touchdown–hope your “bowl dreams” amount to reality
!
September 3, 2010 at 7:14 am
You pretty much cover all the major reasons for watching college football…but would have loved to have the band be more than a half-time show…since we rarely get to see them if we watch the game on tv because of the so-called half-time show….but just love the poem.
September 3, 2010 at 10:22 am
hope you get to some games – you live in the perfect place.
September 4, 2010 at 4:26 pm
Snuggling yes. The rest, not so much.
Football’s not my sport but I do appreciate the gravity of those who love it. My aunt is rabid about fb.
Nice 55.
September 3, 2010 at 11:28 am
You know, I always loved college football more than the pro games. I remember my first college game – Georgia vs Auburn, nearly fifty years ago. People dressed up back then…suits, penny loafers, big mum corsages. It was
great fun….and, of course, GA had to win, even though
I lived just over the Chattahoochee River, only about 30
miles from Auburn.
September 3, 2010 at 11:37 am
Yes…I am ready for some football!
September 3, 2010 at 11:37 am

September 3, 2010 at 4:28 pm

Coffee spilled? That’s so sad! But the beer overflowing will help ease the pain of it!
Fun one, Moon!
xo
September 4, 2010 at 4:07 am
Ah, you obviously live in a cooler climate that I do! My college team played Thursday and it was probably 90 degrees at kickoff!
But I do remember those high school nights when it would actually get cold…and THAT made football even more interesting to cheer on.
Nice one!
September 4, 2010 at 8:16 am
So sad I’m not familiar with this kind of football but I get the picture from the poem. Nice one Moony.
Cheers.
