Why Wait? (Friday Flash Fiction)

She always kept him waiting

waiting at the door, by the phone.

“patience must be his virtue”

his friends would mumble.

She was clueless when it came to time and schedules.

Then he saw her – his heart flipflopped as their eyes met

he was reminded why he waited

that sparkle - spoke of love and “us”

  1. Reminds me of why people fall in love. And why emotions are always stronger than thoughts. I was there not too long ago, although it wasn’t time that was the issue, but other things. Still, love overrode the little flaws.

  4. Argh… have to confess that if someone perpetually kept me waiting I’d probably have to grit my teeth to find a sparkle anywhere. Good for this guy, though. Some of the best things in life require exquisite patience.

  25. :) good one.
With Don(my husband) i unlearned the skill to let a lover wait, he just wouldn’t be there anymore, he’d be sleeping or be gone without me. Then my first lover suddenly broke up for seemingly other reasons, but after i let him wait one night for an hour (unintendedly) Now :) i have to have the good fortune to love a man, who will wait for me for ever, because he knows… about the sparkle.

    October 15, 2010 at 7:51 pm

  26. Ahhh! I love this!
True love will always wait, if somewhat impatiently sometimes ;-)

    October 16, 2010 at 2:47 am

    October 16, 2010 at 10:50 am

  28. I hope she doesn’t keep him waiting too long…every one has their patience limits. :)
