Ebbing Tide #flashfiction

You once sat with me on a piece of flotsam

Telling me stories about the ship that had sunk in the stormy sea

“All were lost”

you said with a tear on your cheek

I never knew you never told me

All had not been lost

A small boy and his scruffy dog had floated into the bay

A fisherman and his wife found the two survivors and raised them as their own

One day you went out to sea looking for something you had lost

You never told me what you were seeking

“All were lost”

I carved into  broken wood

A piece of flotsam where we will never sit again

“Please take me out to sea faithful tide

where I can be joined with the one

I have lost…”

Winter Sunset #flashfiction

Captivated by the warmth of your light.

Waves scintillate with your tropical colors.

You lavish the last of your rays on my upturned face

on this bright winter day.

*****

I am spoiled to live in this world with the sea

The waves roar in my heart

The breeze plays with my hair

The coast is beauty~ a daily  work of art

Picture: Taken this week on a drive down Highway 1

Thanks to Monkey Man for hosting his fast and furious rendition of Flash Fiction. What can you write in 160?

Come play

Do you ever hear the sea beckoning you to play to let yourself go?  The sea is powerful and gentle, strong yet subtle. I am convinced you can never get enough of the sea.

The waves are calling

give up your day

come

come now and play

***

The wind

whips  my hair

plasters  clothes

that I wear

***

I am free to be me

I can scream

laugh

and  dream

***

Lift me up

as you dance

time for us

for romance

***

By the sea

in the dunes

hide me

shadow of the moon

***

Set me free

from all cares

hold me close

do you dare?
