Veteran’s Day Tribute (Friday Flash Fiction 55)

“Darling hold me close” she whispered

“Just a little longer – please

I want to remember what it feels like to be held by you

Memories keep me warm at night”

She rolled over into several of the pillows that represented

(but would never replace) her beloved husband

who was fighting somewhere  for his country

Thanks to G-Man for another week of fabulous Flash Fiction in 55 words. Come join us – play and read.

Thank you for visiting Moondustwriter. In 2019, we have an exciting project. We are developing elementary curriculum for Ugandan children. As a writer, it is a thrill to help children who want to learn. Along with the curriculum, we hope to develop simple fictions about Uganda for the children to read at school. Trust me books are in short supply. We will use our trusted story tellers: a butterfly and a lion to make the stories come alive. Stay tuned as Bethany and Me put pen to paper. I've been part of the blogging community for more than 10 years. Some old timers may remember the award winning (2012 Twitter Shorty ) blog community - One Stop Poetry. I was the (quiet) originator of the idea and co-producer of One Stop Poetry. I am a published writer, poet, artist and photographer. I have written, as well as edited, for periodicals, radio, blogs and fellow writers. There are many facets to this moon - thanks for stopping by.

    1. I am the proud owner of a print from Andy. It is a beautiful piece of aorrwtk. I didn’t know him personally, but I wish I had. After reading of his struggles, I realize how similar him and I are. I also struggled with drugs, and an overdose changed my perspective on life. I wish I would have known him, for I believe he would have been a truly blessed friend of mine.

  2. Lovey tribute for Veteran’s Day, MDW. There are too many wives, husbands and children hugging pillows tonight. We should all say thank you, and then pray for peace.

    1. LOL this picture crcaks me up too. It was so fun and I enjoyed every minute of it, grasshoppers and all. Thanks for all your help in showing me all that my camera can do and that it’s easy to do. You are GREAT

  3. War is so pathetic. Yet sometimes a necessary evil. I can only wonder how frustrating and anxiety filled it can be for the families of the soldiers!

  4. In Canada, we celebrate 11/11 as Remembrance Day. So important to take the time to give thanks for all those who give so much for their country – sadly, sometimes up to and including their very lives.

    A wonderful 55 tribute.

    1. I’ve had several long conrivsateons with Andy over the last 8 years about his art and life after purchasing an extensive collection of his works. I found him to be passionate and very open concerning details of his life as an artist and a man. It was these conrivsateons that validated my initial compulsion to own his paintings. There will never be a story or man like him again. Miss you Andy.
