The Boy Who Knew …

I ‘m an average boy

two arms two legs

and a mind that can …

…Take me for a ride to the moon

tame a wild black stallion with my voice

fearlessly ride on the back of a T-Rex

all this morning’s choice

In the afternoon …

I am a cowboy on a long dusty  trail

a sailor tied to the wreckage of my ship

a man-eating tiger out for an evening stalk

a tightrope walker my feet never slip

…In my dreams I go places do things

reach the highest heights

and then tomorrow

I do it

all

over

again!!!!!!!

Dedicated to:

… my dear friend with Aspergers who is sooo intelligent and at 7 is harassed by other boys because he knows too much. I know where he goes in his mind – I want to go there with him.

Today on MDW Thursday, I am featuring Jason Bourne. This poem is dedicated to Jason and others …

Thank you for visiting Moondustwriter. In 2019, we have an exciting project. We are working with a team developing elementary curriculum for African children. As a writer, it is a thrill to help children who want to learn. I've been part of the blogging community for more than 10 years. Some old timers may remember the award winning (2012 Twitter Shorty ) blog community - One Stop Poetry. I was the (quiet) originator of the idea and co-producer of One Stop Poetry. I am a published writer, poet, artist and photographer. I have written, as well as edited, for periodicals, radio, blogs and fellow writers. There are many facets to this moon - thanks for stopping by.

  3. Thanks, Leslie, for the poem and interview with Jason. I have worked with “handicapped” kids, too, as a one-on-one teacher. Nobody ever messed with “my kids” when the Tiger was around. Lots of laughs and good memories I have and deep respect for the challenges.
One of my kids could sing just like Michael Jackson and knew all the lyrics, too.
    Thanks , again.

  4. Disabilities come in all forms not only physical but particularly do we need to try harder, care more, see through the first impressions, the fears, the worries and understand each person before us. Even if they are only grouchy and disagreeable, try to find that which has merit in them, reinforce them. From the most unlikely individuals I have found the most loyal and trustworthy friends. I loved this journey as though you’d traveled with the boy in his dreams. Beautiful, Leslie. Thanks, Gay @beachanny
