If I die young … #MicroFiction

Life is too long when you have lost your one true love…

A single tear dropped on the ivory lettered page in tribute to her beloved Pete.

He had wanted to live life fully, romantically, and on the edge.

“Oh Pete you didn’t need to get that close to the edge – you might still be with me now had you stayed on the path.

So if I die young it will not be because I was married to a gorgeous man with laser like blue eyes that pour desire and love into my being.

My last touch will not be touching the bronze skin of a beautiful, muscled athlete.

Lips will not kiss sweetness that exude words of love and praise

If I die young, it will be because I carelessly swerve  in front of a semi having no desire to live this life alone without the man who placed a

band of gold on my finger less than three years ago~~~~~

Oh PETE!!!!!!”

  1. I hope this beautifully crafted poem does not rise from personal experience. It is beautiful and haunting, since I lost Love of my Life 2 years and 2 months ago. LInes like “My last touch will not be touching the bronze skin of a beautiful, muscled athlete,” speak to me.

    I really like your work!

    1. Most of my stories emerge from some reality ~ I shed another tear for my friend who lost her husband when walking too close on a hiking trail – my heart broke watching her world collapse

  2. This hit a little too close to home for me. I lost my best friend and lover of 10 years 25 years ago. Although I am now happily married to a man whom I have known since I was a child, the memory of that love will always be with me.

Thanks for your comment on my post. Your post, however, is much more moving and meaningful.

  3. I too hope this story didn’t evolve from a past experience. You would make an excellent romance novelist. This was very moving.

P.S. elephant boogers are oysters a.k.a. Ory’s Turds. Thanks for stopping by my blog. ♥ ~Ames

  4. This got to me deep down…WOW !
Stunningly beautiful and tragic…hope she chooses to live, get past the devastating pain of loss and keeps his memory alive by living a full, happy life herself !
