Justice #poetry #politics

gavel

pronounce it anyway you like

accent or not

it has been served up

as a pig’s head on a platter

indecorously

Wielded like a four letter word

between the sheets

as a man takes what is “his”

forcefully

Falls with steel-like force

in one swift move

obliterating life in its path

sharply

Is bandied about

by men who think they know

something about the law

arrogantly

Fails to meet the mark

for the common man

the one who needs it the most

discriminatingly

In days when it is needed the most, where has it flown???

  1. Yes!

Once upon a time I spent six and a half years working for a corporate insurance defense law firm. One of the first things the senior attorney told me: “Never confuse Law and Justice.”

I suspect that may ever hold true. I have since filed the word, the concept, of justice somewhere back in the realm of theoretical concepts of human perceptions. I hope for some level of “fairness” to the outcome of most of my human interactions, but I also realize that’s certainly not a universal rule or even standard of operating procedure for the cosmos in general.

I like the way you said it in this piece much better though.

Thanks for sharing this, Leslie 😉

discriminatingly” Sadly we live in a world where men and women like these abound. Using power in an evil way causing harm, pain, destruction and death to victims and their families. These people are wolves pretending to be lambs. I hope and pray that real justice will fall on them from the one true source from heaven. In time , it will….
