Living Art #photography #poetry

Entering the portico

I am greeted with buzzing bees

a chorus written on my behalf

sung by the local cheep choir

once tended, the garden is alive with color

the old oak door opens to a living gallery

each painting familiar

smiling eyes look at me

flowers beckon for my approval

the easel creaks a “welcome home”

paints squeezed out on the palette

dance with joy at my perusal

burgundy, ochre, midnight blue cartwheel

It is a lively place this world of art

I know each piece by name

they know my voice, my laugh, my sigh

we understand each other

when I am gone

this is where I long to be

The delightful writing prompt at the DP Daily challenge is Living Art. (One day, your favorite piece of art — a famous painting or sculpture, the graffiti next door — comes to life. What happens next?)

The world of art has been my companion since birth. It is always warm and alive and as part of me as I am it. (The painting of the girl is a much younger me!)

Thank you for visiting Moondustwriter. One of the many exciting things I've had the honor of doing is writing with an E. African team that is developing elementary curriculum for African children. As a writer, it is a thrill to help children (on all continents) who want to learn. I've been part of the blogging community for more than 10 years. Some old timers may remember the award winning (2011 Twitter Shorty ) blog community - One Stop Poetry. I was the co-producer of that fast growing blog community. I am a published writer, poet, artist and photographer. I have written, as well as edited, for periodicals, radio, blogs and fellow writers. There are many facets to this moon - thanks for stopping by.

  1. To me art and poetry are the same in spirit. The artist and the poet are both expressing their ideas. As the viewer/reader the pleasure it to let the whole work wash over you, without judgement, without expectation, without explanation and receive the idea by the feelings evoked.
