Where were you …
when I lit the waxy wick
at 3 am
unrolled the parchment
that resisted and cracked
*
Where were you
when I inked my quill
container upended
and spilled
not so deftly I protected my craft
*
Where were you
when the words ran so fast
then flowed
into the sea with a crash
truly buoyant for a raft
*
where were you
when my head came to rest
fingers not faintly stained
sleepy head messed
asleep before I hit the rack
Where were you
?
No matter the era when you are awakened by an idea, you stumble to your desk, try to find a light, write down the words before you lose them.
It’s almost 9 am and my words are dozing… “YAWN”
What’s your best time for writing????

I write in the morning, I am not so good in the evening, all I think of is ,’it’s time to sleep.’

Hello Moonduster I love these words of yours and an evocative picture too. Well I may be in my 60’s but find still being awake at 3 am the norm…. unfortunately not due to partying (smiles). But this is my writing time it turns out on my android or notebook. Still a newbie writer of my thoughts and becoming more focused. You are prolific and I enjoy your posts very much. Best to you Maximum

I try always to be ready for those moments. Often it seems the muse speaks loudest when I am running between meetings riding in the car.

I usually just say it over an over (if I am alone) until I can get to a place where I can pull out the pen and paper and write it all down.

These days, I write when the words come. Sadly, they don’t keep to a schedule.
