Love as an Action #devotion #poetry

girl on the move

May I be motivated to do good

 my attitude be cheerful today

my feet be swift to aid another

kindest words from my lips would I say

may my mind not stray toward evil

eyes mirror what is  in my soul

that I would accept others as a child

generosity spill forth for  poor, young and old

*

I just got back from vacation and along the way watched people.  What I observed:

With so little effort we can bring cheer and goodness to others as we cross their paths.

How often do you hear a child’s laugh, see her smile and not feel less bothered by the day?

Small kindness can make such a difference in a person’s day.

Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!
1 Peter 3:9

Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.

1 John 3:18

Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.

  1. Nice little blessing/prayer you wrote there — that we could all be a bit more compassionate to everyone – regardless of who they are. The 1 Peter scripture is pretty powerful.

  2. Not only do small kindnesses brighten the day for others – we feel better ourselves! Loved this, Leslie. I love your heart of compassion. LOVE the precious photo of the small girl running towards all her tomorrows.

  3. Yes, may I be motivated to do good! What a beautiful prayer you have written, which we could benefit from saying every day! So true that it takes so little to bring joy to others…if only we try just a little bit! I enjoyed your reflection & your poem, Leslie.

  4. Oh yes small kindnesses make the world of difference – and children certainly have more of a capacity for that than most ‘grown ups’…what a wonderful piece..people watching is fascinating isn’t it!

  5. A motivating piece Leslie. Yes, that’s how we all must behave if we want to attract abundance, success and happiness in life..And everywhere around. Oh, I just loved it.
