Fawn #haiku

fawn

I came home this evening gasping in awe

so fresh are the white speckles on the fawn

She looks so calm with those big eyes

Her neck twists as she watches her resting twin

bending her legs she lays on the forest floor

Mothers never leave them when they are this young

the tears caress my eyelids

tomorrow they awaken to tomorrow’s challenge

tonite they rest under nature’s canopy

*

so new to the world

orphans in forest sanctuary

foraging alone

The prompt at Carep Diem Haiku Kai is Fawn.

  1. The thought of the young fending for themselves can be of much concern. One is not certain if they can get a decent meal before retiring for the night. Some may not even have a place to stay! Well said Moonie!
