It was at this peak
for the first time
I found love
cool, crisp were your lines
my first solo climb
off the precipice
I jumped
into empty lies
carving into moguls
some shallow some deep
rose petals in the powder
you could hear the beat
the foolish heart
seeks for occupation
breaking my leg
pain not soon forgotten
strength has all but failed
for my encore traverse
the pinnacle breached
life’s fall rehearsed
***
final blueprints
plans fall into place others fail
on a pinnacle
Poet’s United prompt is Mountain. My cryptic symbols reflect life on the end of a Pinnacle.

Thank you for visiting Moondustwriter. One of the many exciting things I've had the honor of doing is writing with an E. African team that is developing elementary curriculum for African children. As a writer, it is a thrill to help children (on all continents) who want to learn.
I've been part of the blogging community for more than 10 years. Some old timers may remember the award winning (2011 Twitter Shorty ) blog community - One Stop Poetry. I was the co-producer of that fast growing blog community.
I am a published writer, poet, artist and photographer. I have written, as well as edited, for periodicals, radio, blogs and fellow writers.
There are many facets to this moon - thanks for stopping by.

An interesting interplay between topic and symbolism.

A pinnacle; burst through the ski trail; new limp.

I love how you summarize your whole poem by the last line. Achievements and fails. Excellent!

It takes courage to make such a leap….and trust. Probably even more so the second time.

Lovely. .as they say, climb the mountains and get their good tidings! Courage is a necessity. ..

A poor dress rehearsal often means a great opening night. The wonder is that you returned to that pinnacle at all, not that the planned leap worked. Bravo!

The pinnacle of knowing shines through in this poem – life is climbs and falls..but always somehow we move on..and hopefully forward..i love the concise language adding to the certainty and ‘rose petals in the powder’ – what could be better

Really like the last three lines – which summarize the strong message of the poem, I think.
