Jinja and Kampala #uganda #atozchallenge

So I was on the road and off grid and am going to play catch up. My theme is still Uganda and most often a tribute to the Acholi tribe of Northern Uganda.

The beginning of the Nile

or so some claim

a harbor for refugees

Jinja is her name

*

Traffic’s a jam

four hours a mile

crocodiles skulk

in the heart of the Nile

Kampala, her largest city

the cattle don’t know

 walk through the middle

cars mingle you know

time on our hands

we shop with our eyes

from jewelry to dead fish

from pearls to swine

business essential

my office or yours

junk yard pavilion

car on the second floor

Jinja was the city that many acholi fled to when the north was ravaged by soldiers. Many have not returned to their ancestral land.
