couldn’t wait to teach orphans
crafts, dancing and silly smiles
never quite expected
a safari after so many miles
so many exclamations
of beauty in this place
this country called Uganda
can’t keep joy from my face
Thanks to the A to Z challenge for a great month so far. One more week to enjoy. Several of these photos (the lion and elephant) were taken by my friend John Pipes. The un-animal shots are Fort Murchison( a fantastic get-away with excellent food ) and a romantic view of the Nile. Our safari was at Murchison Falls, Uganda.

Thank you for visiting Moondustwriter. One of the many exciting things I've had the honor of doing is writing with an E. African team that is developing elementary curriculum for African children. As a writer, it is a thrill to help children (on all continents) who want to learn.
I've been part of the blogging community for more than 10 years. Some old timers may remember the award winning (2011 Twitter Shorty ) blog community - One Stop Poetry. I was the co-producer of that fast growing blog community.
I am a published writer, poet, artist and photographer. I have written, as well as edited, for periodicals, radio, blogs and fellow writers.

Hi Leslie – I’ve never been up to Uganda – though many have told of its beauty … but I’d forgotten it was so far north (from South Africa) … but your photos brought back many memories of similar trips down south …
We have a film from Uganda being shown by our film society on Wednesday – Queen of Katwe … it was directed by Mira Nair, who lives in Kampala and has done for three decades or so … so I’m looking forward to it … there’s a write up in Wiki …
Cheers Hilary

I could not find a link at the AtoZ, so I put one below your comment there. I don’t know if it was just me, or if it is missing.

Leslie, the closest I got to a safari is at the amusement park in Cinnacinati Ohio, Kings’ Island. 🙂 How amazing to see wildlife up close!

There is something about being in the wild. When the bull elephant was sharing the road with us we just stopped to see what his plan was – no fence that tells him to stop.
