Shading #atozchallenge #children

give me a crayon

a paper of my own

leave me to create

a space all alone

a quiet, a calm

 a world you can’t touch

when I’m done I’m so proud

happiness doesn’t take much

huts and livestock

trees in the breeze clap their hands

children coloring

It is no surprise that Ugandan children love crafts. Coloring or as Ugandans call it Shading can quiet the loudest group of children. Intent are they to create with color.

  1. Hi Leslie – love the word ‘shading’ for what I’d call colouring … but such fun to see – and your poem just brings sunshine in – cheers Hilary

  2. Finding your blog for the first time because you left a comment on a blog I was reading. I LOVE what you are doing here. Happy that I could begin with the poem about coloring. I will spend some time now catching up the others. If you have time or interest, I have been writing about BOOKSHOPS, their architecture, location and the great people who sell them. For the letter S I’m in Oxford, MS. Hope to see you.
