Ikebana is a japanese art form using nature to create the art. The biennial Ikebana exhibit at the Torpedo Factory integrates art.  A backdrop  (painting)  enhances the live art.

part of the art

I improvised and used a human for my  live art and a painting of a photographer for the backdrop.

This week’s photo prompt is Abstract.

As an art student, I was not enamored by the Abstractionist movement. Those I studied were using garbage as their media or a single color on canvas to make a statement. The trend was to break away from the traditional and find new ways to use lines and color.

Window – Holocaust Museum

I look from a point of no reprieve

behind the pained glass window

light flickers in the trees

people pass smiling as they go

it feels like?

looks like?

is…

I breathe in – precarious I’m standing

little oxygen

less understanding

this lack makes my head spin

it feels like?

looks like?

is…

I plaster my face to the glass

can’t they see inside

what of them should I ask

as they travel quickly by

it feels like?

looks like?

is…

I wonder does it matter

flailing against the glass

they watch as the pain does  shatter

looking upon bloodied ruin as they pass

it feels like?

looks like?

is…
