Smiles Upon the Weed #poetry

weed

Live these moments free

blow about in spring

laugh with the breeze

wide-spread your seed

*

a prima ballerina

proud, straight and tall

you await the season’s signal

headdress bobs above them all

white feathered  dancers

released to the air

you giggle with the day

laughter your fan fare

now dried and empty

you lifeless droop and sway

the final dance is broken

as you leave the stage

last words spoken

a whisper to the wise

“dance above the treetops

tiptoe in the sky

live these moments free

blow about in spring

laugh with the breeze

smile upon the weed”

“A weed is no more than a flower in disguise, which is seen through at once, if love give a man eyes.”

James Russell Lowell (Brainy quotes)

This week’s prompt at Poet’s United Midweek Motif is “Weeds.” So often we see them but rarely do we celebrate them.
