War Torn #Peaceonearth #poetry

I held a Sudanese hand

it fit so small in mine

I caught a ragged smile

I wished I had more time

We sang a song of praise

they dance with all their might

their mamas and their papas

they lost them in war’s night

fortitude and strength

the littlest they stand

hope, faith, love

we grasp another’s hand

*****

smiles radiate

reach our hands to the sun

Peace on Earth

One of the villages we have worked in has built homes and adopted So. Sudanese orphans. Love is being poured into hearts and the children are doing so well.   We would love to see peace in So. Sudan so that families are not displaced and children are not orphaned.

Poets United has a wonderful community and this midweek prompt is Peace on Earth

Can’t Afford My Memories #poetry #photography

I drove by grandma and grandpas place

so many changes  hard to trace

a little girl where flowers bloom

eating ice cream by the light of the moon

music played all the seasons

I loved Rudolph for many reasons

love there didn’t need yeast

family gathered for every feast

today the house I cant afford

 rich with memory’s golden cord

Seek and You Will Find #poetry

looking for

You cant see my toes

squish, wiggle in the sand

and where the tuba blows

Ill whistle with the band

you cant know my thoughts

though a smile you might see

some things can be taught

not my giggle and  glee

you wont hear the whispered hush

goodness daily do I pray

God is where I put my trust

each and every day

and with much hope

courage for the King

if I have one vote

its to serve Him faithfully

Ripple Effect #poetry #alzheimers

writing in the margins

so much more to say

images collide

cold and cloudy day

filling up the pages

lost amidst the line

start where ended

fretful is my mind

notes are merging

losing the details

misty is the matter

flattened now my scales

Alzheimer’s is a debilitating disease for the elderly. People working in the filed have found that music helps retain some connections to life’s memories.

The Sixth “V” #children #atozchallenge

He’s handsome

smart

dedicated

he looks forward

not to curses

forget the past

forge a new way

with the way maker

He’s the sixth V

He’s our son!!!

This is my son Denis who is an amazing young man. He is determined to be the first of his biological family to graduate from High School and then continue on to college. He is already a leader. We are proud that he calls us Mama and Papa.

We love you Denis and are soooo proud of you!
