Young #atozchallenge

sea foam line

yesterday I stubbed my toe

nothing was making sense

my imprints vanishing

closed in by life’s fence

today I followed my footsteps

retraced some of my steps

jumped similar  waves

discovered no more regrets

tomorrow I’ll follow my heart

no matter the cost

sing to you and the sea birds

our smiles will never be lost

Where do you find your younger self?

Dawn and the Sea #poetry

tidal foam

my eyes long to caress you smooth as silk

your bronze glow accentuated by dawn

my fingers can only momentary trace a message

watery “I love yous” fade away

as the sea draws lacy covers back

remnant of a long night blurrs

gold red rays warm your skin

long legged birds celebrate your awakening

I a mere voyeur watch…

the morning rises from slumber

 meeting the sea’s welcome embrace

I inhale the beauty of a new day

sandpiper dawn

This week’s prompt at Poet’s United Midweek Motif is Beauty. Where in the world do you see beauty?

I Dream at Night #poetry

Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things

that escape those who dream only at night

Edgar Allan Poe

dark waters

Yearning for hot sea breeze

 eyes peer in the darkness

where only the moon sees

 deep is the awakening

curling of rouge wet lips

pressed against my own

caught in desire starlit

the waves rushing onward

hands hold me beneath the tide

where I gasp for air

longing to drown by your side

The prompt for the Midweek Motif at Poet’s United is “Night” .

Dusk’s Dance #poetry #haiku #sea #photography

this road–

no one goes down it

autumn’s end

~Basho

And here I meet him – Dusk

eyes linger

on the last flames

burning off cities in the distance

he offers his hand

“will you dance?”

“yes, but I must rise soon.”

for a few stolen moments

we dance as the day fades to away

sun-drop 1

last of day’s splendor

blue sky merges with sea

moon yawns

Kristjaan at Chevrefeuille’s Carpe Diem prompts us to write about Dusk. I used my poetic license to create a haibun for such an occasion.

A DREAM WITHIN A DREAM. ~Edgar Allen Poe

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow—
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand—
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep—while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?

********

Grasping at hope

sea pulls at all I hold dear

your kiss still warm

tears at great cost

dark dreams possess my heart

you are gone

At Home on the Sea #sailing #devotion #poetry

posturized beach

You sit silently

 water teases

bumping against

your hull

a few more moments

rest

preparing for a dance with the waves

and then like the rooster that crows at dawn,

the captain shouts the order:

“unleash the mainsail,

ready the ropes from mooring

raise our standard,

let the sun have her glorious moment”

colors dance and flutter as the breeze grasps sepia sails

the sun smiles, ” yes, the perfect day to set out”

I remember too well

days when the sun-kissed my face

and the breeze snapped at my hair

like a bubble the topsails float free

sailors amble down the ropes

upturned faces meet the day in an “ahhh”

more billowing white than brown

as the captain tugs at the wheel

“yes, my lady, it is time to fly”

he grasps the smooth wood like a lover

he feels her tug back, “I am ready,” she whispers

free from her mooring, she lets the wind pull her about

sailor’s legs are eager to feel the motion of the sea

white meets blue in a halo of reflections

tears pool as my heart wants to grasp at freedom

a tug of war with spirit and earth

as the sails reach to the sea

she glides toward open water

I am glad for the reminder

one day I too will leave the mooring of life

releasing billowing sails to the winds beyond

gliding freely with the captain of my ship to open waters

schooner

Tis the set of the sail that decides the goal, and not the storms of life.”

Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
O Lord my God, you are very great!
You are clothed with splendor and majesty,
covering yourself with light as with a garment,
stretching out the heavens like a tent.
He lays the beams of his chambers on the waters;
he makes the clouds his chariot;
    he rides on the wings of the wind;
he makes his messengers winds,
    his ministers a flaming fire.
Psalms 104: 1-4

No One Can Keep a Secret #haiku #photography

Today our third episode of  ”Full Circle”, a special feature at our Carpe Diem Haiku Kai Special  weblog,  and the goal is to write haiku with the twelve (12) words I will give. It’s a kind of word-whirl and you have to use the words given in the clock-wise direction. So every word has to come in the line of it’s place on the clock e.g. mirror you have to use for line one (1) and leaves for line two (2) and so on.

The goal is to write haiku using the 12 words as given in the clock wise way.

Here are the 12 (twelve) words for this new episode:

  1. mirror
  2. leaves
  3. rain
  4. butterfly
  5. chrysanthemum
  6. breeze
  7. stars
  8. clouds
  9. ocean
  10. daisies
  11. cow shed
  12. secret

it’s  in the mirror

fluttering leaves carry it past

spilt in the rain

*

on butterfly wings

chrysanthemum join whispers

carried on the breeze

*

stars seem to hear

what the clouds cannot  hold

caught on ocean’s spray

*

sunny faced daisies

gossip in the cow shed

no one holds a secret

What tale can you weave with these 12 words???
