If you were a star

how would you stand out

among so many lights

If you were a snowflake

how would you reach gloved finger

to be caught in flight

If you were a firefly

how many others

would you have to out blink

if you one daisy in an ocean of fields

how could anyone know

if you were yellow or pink

what humans selecting 1s and 0s

compiling our value

what do they know?

The fragrant rose hopes

to be picked from above

fortunately God is a being of love

He never looks at us as one more thing

each of us more priceless

than the Hope diamond ring

The poem is silly but it conveys the fact that God knows: the name and voice of each star, He clothes each flower in the field, He knows when a bird falls, and He knows your needs (before you do.) Nature is so lovely to watch. Each day the birds come forth looking for food; Even in the winter there is food in our forest though the animals have to look harder for it. It’s there because God provides and He promises to do the same for us.

“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

Luke 12:7

“If then you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about other matters?Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.”

Luke 12:26&27
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Matthew 6:26

Catch It #devotion #football #poetry

football

Toss determines the start

a mere flip a coin falls

snap into another’s hands

numbers roll with the ball

so much rests on a moment

but you will never see the heart

as man looks at appearance

God sees past the start

all the money in your grasp

can’t be measured against the stars

“what are they playing for?” a child asks

“The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

1 Samuel 16:7

Luke 16:15
He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of others, but God knows your hearts. What people value highly is detestable in God’s sight.

John 8:15
You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one.

I love watching football but over the years the love for the game, the athleticism, the challenge has been tainted by the money for the players and for the sponsors. Saying that, I hope your heart is touched by this lost puppy Budweiser ad.

My Room #California #photographychallenge #poetry

My room is between the sun, moon and stars

under a ceiling that shoots and falls

where nature isn’t far

broad and limitless the walls

***

Californians are fortunate to be able to live out-of-doors year round

We don’t need screened room extensions

a brick path, lawn and a pool will do

for the rest bring an imagination

The Word Press Photo Challenge this week is “Room.”

My room has always been outdoors. Where is yours?

Follow Your Dreams #amwriting #dpchallenge #poetry

reach

So many stars

up in the sky

which do you chose

to follow, climb high

how many dreamers

give reason why

they strive as they reach

future in their eyes

so many stars

you must grasp at one

for when all is over

you felt you had won

never be satiated

for a chair by a stream

grasp for the heavens

never stop at one dream

The DP daily challenge is what advice do you wish someone had given you one, two, ten years ago? “Powerful Suggestion.”
