Found in the Forest #poetry #photography

forest path

I stop… mesmerized

sunshine reaches down

they’re holding hands

radiance from the ground

I stand… reaching

with my eyes

I soak in warmth

kneel where nature lies

I breathe…silence

listen to holy teaching

never quite the same

for truth I’m always seeking

forest leaf

Can’t Be Seen #devotion #poetry

car image

Look closely in the mirror

I want to clearly see

instead an image blurry

 lacks much clarity

Intently like a  fox

I daily chase the thought

seeking more the truth

“run the race” is what I’m taught

believe what you don’t see

peel back all the lies

so much have you been given

a faith to set you free

Faith is something you are given not something you can learn in a textbook. It is a belief in something you can’t see. Close your eyes and believe in the truth, it will never mislead.

“But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.…”
James 1:23 & 24
“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”
1 Corinthians 13:12

Ensnared #devotion #poetry

You can’t escape

once you’ve been ensnared

now you are replicating the weaver

your words drip with lies

you sneer at your disguise

slicing the truth into ribbon

circling your prey fixing your eyes

hoping to snatch another innocent of your ways

you care little for the heart that beats

as long as you have your say

little do you see the clay like mire

that is opening to swallow you

caught in you own deceit

you who have wandered astray

you will fall to the pit

of your own evil plans

fool, your world is dull

it leads to death

The image drawn in the Bible of the deceiver is one who schemes to trip and mislead the young, innocent and the naive. This web may glisten with a momentary beauty but it lays a trap that few escape. Follow the truth rather than lies and follow the light of day!!!

day light's burning

“He who speaks truth tells what is right, But a false witness, deceit.” ~Proverbs 12:17

“They hatch deadly snakes and weave spiders’ webs. Whoever falls into their webs will die, and there’s danger even in getting near them.” ~Isaiah 59:5
“For the one who desires life, to love and see good days, must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.”
~1 Peter 3:10

“They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.” ~Titus 1:16

Truth #haiku #photography #poetry #Gibran

“Should you care to write (and only the saints know why you should) you need to have knowledge of the art and magic of the music of words, the art of being artless and the magic of loving your readers” ~Gibran

Art opens doors

Without truth we are blind

Stumbling over lies

***

Behold nature

art in its purist form

Truth will set you free

“When you reach the heart of life you shall find beauty in all things, even in the eyes that are blind to beauty” ~Gibran

This prompt from Chevrefeuille’s Carpe Diem is Truth and Gibran’s truth add inspiration.

To the Tune of…. #dpchallenge #poetry #lyrics #imagine

yellow rose

If One Word Could Change…

this bleeding world

it would open eyes to see

beyond the stars and past the scars

 garden of sublime beauty

what a difference a word  could make

in this world it might be free

what a difference the words would be

if we thought of “you and me”

***

an angry heart

set young girls as captives free

still the troubled and confused mind

like a swift but cooling stream

what a difference a word would make

what a filling soothing  dream

what a difference a word would make

how a child’s face would beam

***

a smoking gun

give a child a rose instead

balloon is freed with hope aloft

floating above the hate and dread

what a difference a word could make

like eagles we would soar

all the songs were sung by open hearts

no need for rich or poor

***

the plots of man

muddied policies made clear

shut the gates of indecision closed

unite people there and here

what a difference a word could make

spoken by a healing tongue

what a dreamy place this world could be

for the elder and their young

The DP Writing Challenge for the week is “To the Tune of…”  Have a little fun and try your hand at writing or rewriting song lyrics.

I wrote this poem thinking of it lyrically but I really dont have music to put it to. This is a song that I would have to compose. However the song Imagine by John Lennon is the background sentiment to these lyrics.

Believe In Change #poetry #Crimea

SB Pier

Rise up say your piece

unite for a cause

stem unreason’s tide

truth above the laws

hold back foolish notions

punish not our beliefs

this cause may seem deranged

 generations filled with grief

**********************************

with unrest we can’t sleep

we are in need of change

no silence we will keep

set things in motion

stop machination’s jaws

people side by side

upend meaningless clause

our world in need of peace

The ESL work I did in Crimea was over the summer.

I would be preparing now to leave.

Where are those students today?

Who knows?

Who

Cares?

The Poet’s United Midweek Motif is prompting poets to write about public protest.

Poets and artists have always had a voice that rings truth.

What do you feel strongly about?

I am saddened by news coming out of Crimea.

Unveil Me #atozchallenge #poetry #photography

uUnveiled me

 more than a covering

look beneath

Unveil me

look with eyes at a new world

perfection

Unveil me

look to the heart of the matter

more than cells

Unveil me

past a scoping tube

a mere reflection

unveil me

look clear to my heart

I am me

“Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.”

1 Cor 13:12

I am posting this for A to Z Challenge and Poet’s United Motif where the prompt is Science.
